How Much Water Do We Use?
The average US family of four uses about 400 gallons of water per day (100 gallons/person) (USEPA, 2009). In Canada household water consumption in 2011 was estimated at 251 litres per person (66.3 US Gallons) (ECC Government of Canada, 2016). Vancouver, British Columbia uses about 340 litres (89.8 US Gallons) of water per household, per day (Metro Vancouver, 2015). In Calgary, 100% of the supply is on water meters, the average person uses about 7,000 litres of water indoors per month (about 229 liters per day/ 60.4 US Gallons) (Water Services City of Calgary, 2015).
